Entergy Administration Building

Willis, Texas

Programmatic Requirements

Entergy Corporation is an integrated energy company engaged in electric power production, transmission, and retail distribution operations in a four state area. Entergy Texas provides service to 473,000 customers in 27 counties. Its newest power plant in Montgomery County recently began operation just in time for Winter Storm Uri in February 2021. The Capital Projects Team for Entergy wanted to transform the metal building concept that houses the office personnel at its power-generating plants into a space that was supportive of employee engagement and productivity.

The client’s program and site allowed the building layout to wrap around an exterior courtyard to maximize natural daylighting for interior offices. Flexible design of the training and conference rooms enable these spaces to multi-function as overnight accommodations during power system emergencies. The adjoining breakroom supports meal preparation for the overnight team. Further flexibility exists in the locker room design as it doubles as a safe-room during hurricanes or extreme weather events.
